ArtsEd Extra Saturday Skills Academy Performance Policy

As part of the Saturday Skills Academy program, participants may have the exciting opportunity to showcase their talents in a performance for friends and family. These performances typically take place during the Spring term each year. This experience offers participants valuable insights into the workings of professional productions and the dynamics of ensemble performance.

To ensure a high-quality production, full attendance and punctuality are essential. Unplanned absences may result in parts being reassigned, as consistent attendance is crucial for everyone involved. Please note that if a participant has low attendance, this may affect the entire production, potentially requiring adjustments to other participants' lines or scenes. ArtsEd EXTRA staff will usually advise parents if there is a concern regarding attendance that is likely to impact upon a performance; clearly if there is absence in close proximity to a performance then these decisions are likely to be made with immediate effect and without the prior informing of parents.

The staff will allocate lines and parts to individual students based on a wide range of criteria, including their understanding of the student’s talent and ability, attendance and engagement in the course. While we strive to allocate lines to all students, but please be aware that the nature of performance-making sometimes means this is not possible. Tutors reserve the right to adjust or remove lines and scenes as needed to enhance the final performance. The fees payable for the course do not entitle, or guarantee, that any student will have the right to a particular level of performance opportunity.

ArtsEd EXTRA has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of verbal or physical abuse. Respect and professionalism are expected from all participants and parents at all times.

If you have any concerns about the performance, please email Extra@artsed.co.uk. For formal complaints, please refer to the complaints policy.

By enrolling in the Spring Term, you are agreeing to this policy.
